MURAL M01.0

THE CINEMASCOPE PAINTING PROJECT

THE ART WALL PROJECT

The idea for this project arose in 2018 during a drive across the island when a gently curved wall caught the artist’s attention. Viewed from a distance, it reminded him of a CinemaScope screen and inspired the desire to artistically transform this surface.

In the fall of 2019, Thomas Steffens presented the concept to the municipal council of West Samos, who granted him permission to proceed. Numerous sketches and drafts ultimately led to the current realization.

For this project, Thomas Steffens secured support from several sponsors. Notably, the Greek paint manufacturer KraftPaints generously provided the paints for the mural. Additional backing came from the Sarrigiannis family of Limnionas, Manolis from Arma Rent a Car, and the city of Marathokampos. Thanks to Dimitris Volakakis for his support as well. This collaboration of dedicated individuals has been instrumental in bringing the project to life.

THANK YOU ALL VERY VERY MUCH.

Can there be a better wall for such a project?

The 190-square-meter wall along the road in West Samos provides a striking backdrop for this project. On this captivating island, rich in history and natural beauty, the surface becomes a vibrant intersection of art and environment.
